№1 (37) 2008 Abstracts of Articles Liquid natural gas and Cryogenic Equipment Auto-tractor fuel systems for LNG gas engines ( Аbstract of an article by a groupe of authors from "Heliomash Corporation") Oleg Popov, Deputy Director General Alexander Bragin, Head of Section Natalia Eremina, Head of Working Group Sergey Milman, Head of Laboratory Vadim Udut, Director General “SIA
Heliomash” has produced
2 types of
cryogenic fuel tanks with capacity of 100 and Cryogenic fuel tank / CFT /
– in Russian " BKT" – “bak
kriogenny toplivny”/
a
double walled cylindrical vessel made of stainless still and insulated
with multilayer
vacuum thermo insulation. The
inner vessel is rested on two supports made of
glass resin. There is a special ‘trapping
device’ at the upper part of
the inner vessel. It prevents the surge of liquid into gas dumping
device
when the vehicle
moves by uneven road
and it guarantees that at a
filling
process there is always a
certain volume
of gaseous matter above the liquid
gas
surface. At the bottom part of the vessel there is a vacuum valve to
suck out and sustain vacuum
during periodical
service works. Cryogenic
fuel tank is attached to a warming up
device connected to the vehicle engine cooling
system. All the tank fittings are
tank-mounted behind
a special door with a lock. The block
of fittings includes 1 fast valve, 2 safety valves, 1 pressure module,
2 regulators
of pressure, 1 ball drain tap,1 ball evaporator tap,
1 ball tap of warming and
draining device. Safety
valves are tuned
to the opening pressure 1.15
Mpa / 11,5
kg/cm2/ or 0.55 MPA / 5,5 kg/cm2/. These tanks have been State
certified and
can be mounted on various
vehicles and
tractors. Further the article describes the experience of cryogenic fuel tanks with different vehicles including agricultural machinery. It also contains tables and graphs.
